magic from the month of may
i’m in the middle of LOCKING IN this week. i signed up for a market this saturday (more info on that in a sec), briefly bringing me out of craft market retirement. it made me think deeply about what i wanted to sell - needle felting is extremely time consuming and i often end up wanting to keep the stuff i make, precisely because my output is so low (and as a lover of trinkets, i find the stuff i make extremely cute).
my first reflex to being invited to a market was something along the lines of “hmm… probably not…”
the more i noodled on it though, a new idea started to form. what if i did a FREE ADVICE table?! the idea exhilarated me; i’m genuinely excited to put myself out there and that in itself is a revolutionary development.
i’ve been doing intense inner work the last two years, shedding limiting beliefs and discovering the luminous core underneath. it’s GO TIME. i’m actually giddy at the thought of change, letting the momentum carry me where it needs to. this shift was a game changer - it has me feeling LIGHER AND FREER THAN EVER.

PORTLAND PEOPLE, COME SEE ME ON JUNE 14TH!!! i’ll be vending at a local event hosted by a friend of a friend. my table will feature a limited number of needle felted sculptures, zines, and of course, FREE ADVICE! i sketched out my table display on maxito’s ipad to get inspired, and everything else kinda fell into place.
lebrie suggested i get an umbrella for my table, and the very next day, i found a small, portable one for $10 with a clamp that can (theoretically) attach to my table. i envisioned some small stools for seating, and came across an instagram story a few days later offering cute plastic stools for anyone to borrow. thank u universe!!
so far i’ve made one zine, but i loveeeee how it turned out. i think this is my new favorite activity EVER. it checks off all of my boxes: pondering, writing, cutting paper, making something cute and tangible that i can replicate and distribute freely. hell yeah!!!
there was one night where my head was buzzing so fast with zine ideas that i could NOT fall asleep. i’ve always loved writing and the idea of publishing - in 4th grade, i attempted a handwritten newsletter subscription for $1 that i’d put into cubbies during recess. my vision didn’t pan out because no one had money, but i still made those newsletters from lined notebook paper, markers, and pens. that memory was buried so deep it only resurfaced a few days ago while zine-ing. wait… did i invent substack as a 4th grader? at the very least, you could say that making zines was pretty much encoded in me from birth. crazy, isn’t it?!

well, the secret’s out. we SMASHED. me and lebrie created a rift in spacetime to channel the spirit of christmas a little early this year. it was a slightly surreal wednesday afternoon with classic holiday tunes and lots of giggles - we somehow spent 3 hours on “x-mas mushrooms” based on a sketch that didn’t quite translate into real life LOL.
we cranked up the christmas music a second time the following week and SAVED CHRISTMAS! behold our festive cats, ugly sweaters, and deck-the-hall snails!!! the world can rest easy now that christmas felting workshops have been safely accounted for. 😎
(go ahead and eat a 10 mg edible for every time i say “christmas”)

i started doing youtube yoga and pilates videos first thing in the morning and it’s been a game changer. ever since i realized i have a body (LMAO), i’ve been opening my mind to caring about my physical existence in a way i really haven’t bothered to before. so far, so good!!
this video unlocked so many new thoughts about the 4th dimension (i spent a lot of time thinking about 4D last month). in the 3rd dimension, birds appear to fly frame by frame. but the flight of a bird exists all at once in the 4th dimension, from beginning, middle, to end - sort of like this video.
FIRST, it’s mind blowing to think what other seemingly mundane moments could be hiding sacred geometry in plain sight. who would guess that a bird in flight is a double helix? what the hell?? SECOND, what shapes and colors do my existence make in 4D?? not just my life, but the entirety of everything? all of my incarnations, all of everyone’s incarnations happening NOW. do fractals have something to do with this?? AHHHH!!!the problem and the solution are completely opposite vibrations (!!!) - i’m in a state of letting things unfold in my life and this hit me extra hard
i read ACOTAR, the infamous fairy sex book. then i read the next two books in the series like i was under a spell… the writing wasn’t particularly good (it was super repetitive and the characters were oddly shallow) but i could NOT put the books down??!! total page count = 1840 in the span of like eight days. the last time i was consumed by a book so powerfully might’ve been when harry potter book 5 was released - so in some ways, the feeling of losing myself for hours and hours was pretty nostalgic and a little exciting. HOWEVER, the ending was so poorly designed that i spent days reading negative reddit posts about the series to make myself feel better. you know what i learned though? just do the thing. who cares if it’s bad. someone’s gonna do it worse than you and be successful LOL. sarah j maas didn’t let the haters stop her from getting her bag, so neither should you!!!
